Friday afternoon fraud - how scammers could wipe out your house deposit

Friday afternoon fraud involves scammers hacking into the email account of a conveyancer or home buyer, and using it to monitor and intercept emails.

This type of fraud can happen on any day of the week, but committing the crime on a Friday means victims may not realise they've been scammed until Monday morning. This gives the fraudster more time to withdraw and transfer the stolen funds.
