Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Message - MetEngage Longlands

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Dear Longlands Residents,

Members of the ward have emailed and raised concerns with young teenagers/adults in cars parking up and doing drugs before and after college.

We have this morning with the help of SIDCUP combatted this ASB problem.

One car found and dealt with!

Driver fined 90 pounds for possession of cannabis
TWO ASB warnings issued for being apart of the problem.
All subjects where dealt with by another mean also, which should stop that problem in its tracks.

Local Priorities Theft Of Motor Vehicle Update - MetEngage Longlands

I wanted to provide an update regarding the theft of motor vehicles,  which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Apologies its been a while since a message has been sent out.

Just a quick brief message. I'm starting to notice an slight increase in motor vehicle theft over the past few weeks on the Longlands ward. There has been three thefts of a motor vehicle in March and a few thefts from a motor vehicle.

Please stay vigilant and put in whatever measures you can to help prevent this.

Hopefully is just an anomaly for the month and we don't start seeing a steady increase.

We know that people can be concerned about the personal and financial impact of having their vehicle stolen, which is why we will pursue and arrest those who break the law. Please consider taking the following steps to keep your vehicle safe:  

• Check that your vehicle is locked and secure every time you leave it. Thieves often look for easy opportunities to steal from vehicles. They will usually try the handles until they get lucky and find one that has been left unlocked.  

• Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home and away from your front door.  

• If you have a keyless entry vehicle, keep the key well away from the vehicle while at home and turn off wireless signals on your fob when its not being used. Consider putting the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check that it is still working every few months.  

• Park your vehicle in a private garage if you can. If you don’t have access to one, try to park in a well –lit open space.  

• Try to use public car parks that are part of the police approved Park Mark safer parking scheme.  

• Secure your number plates with tamper resistant screws to avoid them being stolen and used by others.

The Fairfield Independent Review, led by Dr Gillian Fairfield, is assessing the Met’s progress against the recommendations made in Baroness Casey’s 2023 review — and we’re asking Londoners to share their views as part of this important work.

 

A new survey is gathering public feedback on cultural change, standards, and the impact of improvements made so far — and we need your insight.

 

The survey is open to anyone who lives in London or has lived here in the past three years. It takes 10–20 minutes, and you don’t need any prior knowledge of the Casey Review to take part.

Over 400 arrests made in Met focus on drug dealing. - MetEngage Longlands

Title: Over 400 arrests made in Met focus on drug dealing.  Earlier this month, we participated in a record-breaking week, tackling drug crime and violence within our communities.  The surge of action came as part of County Lines Intensification Week, where police forces across the country join to tackle drug dealing, particularly targeting gangs who smuggle drugs in or across cities.  Across London, the Met’s efforts saw 415 offenders arrested, 85kg of cocaine and heroin, and 72 weapons seized, as well as providing support and safety to many vulnerable adults and young people.  These results highlight the strength of our partnership work and the determination across teams to protect communities, safeguard vulnerable individuals and relentlessly pursue those who exploit them.  Over the recent operational period, officers in Bexley have executed a series of targeted drugs search warrants resulting in significant seizures, safeguarding outcomes, and a closure order. These actions demonstrate proactive policing, effective intelligence development, and a continued focus on disrupting organised criminality and harm within the borough.   Warrant 1 – Significant Class A Seizure Outcome: 720 vials of cocaine recovered 4 uncut rocks of crack cocaine Offensive weapon seized Quantity of cannabis located Large amount of cash seized under POCA powers Estimated street value: approximately £70,000 Impact: This represents a major disruption to Class A drug supply in the borough. The quantity and purity suggest upstream supply links, and the recovery of an offensive weapon indicates an elevated level of risk and violence associated with the premises.   Warrant 2 Outcome: 4 large bricks of heroin 1 block of suspected cocaine 9 bags of cannabis 2 larger bags of ground cannabis Approx. 100 tablets suspected to be MDMA £1,700 cash seized CS Gas canister recovered Estimated total street value: approximately £50,000 Impact: This warrant disrupted a multi‑drug dealing operation spanning Class A and Class B supply. The presence of CS gas indicates an enhanced threat level and suggests involvement in wider criminal networks.   Warrant 3 – Safeguarding & ASB-linked Closure Order Outcome: Closure Order granted on premises linked to persistent ASB and ongoing Class A drug use One vulnerable resident safeguarded and taken into police protection Address effectively closed to prevent further exploitation, cuckooing, or community harm Impact: This action directly improved the safety of a vulnerable individual and removed a key location used for drug consumption, exploitation, and antisocial behaviour. The closure order also supports long‑term community reassurance and neighbourhood confidence.   These three warrants collectively demonstrate: Significant disruption of local drug supply chains and county line operation, including large amounts of Class A substances Removal of weapons and harmful substances (e.g., CS gas) from circulation Financial disruption through cash seizure Safeguarding of vulnerable persons linked to exploitation Improved community safety through enforcement and closure powers The combined street value of recovered drugs is in excess of £120,000, representing a major impact on the criminal economy within Bexley.   If you have any information in regards to County lines operation or drugs please contact the police on 101 or  Members of the public can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Local Priorities Burglary Message - MetEngage Longlands

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

 

On 8th March 2026 at approximately 18:30 hours there was an attempted Burglary in Northcote Road, Sidcup.

Thankfully the home owner was home and disturbed the suspects from stealing their motorbike.

Burglaries have increased recently whereby the suspects are breaking in and stealing the car keys from the property and making off with the vehicle. The suspects are currently targeting Mercedes on the ward. The best security you can have for your vehicle is a Ghost immobilizer and the basics we suggest would be a steering lock.

While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you:  

• Double lock your door every time you leave the house  

• If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access.  

• Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows.  

• Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through.  

• If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house.  

• Make sure all valuables are out of sight. 

• Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps.  

• In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on.  

• Set your burglar alarm 

• Lock your  shed or garage 

• Mark, register or record your valuables.

Male Arrested for Recall to prison - MetEngage Longlands

A male wanted for Recall to Prison was arrested yesterday by Pc Alex Francis.  He was displaying poor behaviour and had breached his tag conditions several times.  Funnily enough the male was not happy about this fact but, after some really professional tactical communication by PC Francis, he was brought to custody without incident.

Update from Longlands safer neighbourhoods - MetEngage Longlands

Dear Resident,

 

We've been made aware recently there was a vulnerable resident on Longlands ward that has been scammed. two white males have approached the vulnerable resident at his home address and insisted that he needed work done on his roof. When the job was finished they asked for the agreed amount of money but has then taken the victim to a cash machine and asked for more than the agreed amount. 

 

Please see some advice below to help to prevent this happening to someone else. 

 

*Door to door scams involve criminals knocking on your door and unexpectedly offering products or services. Fraudsters convince you to pay for goods or work which is often overpriced, or of poor quality or is not even carried out. In many cases, this work isn't even necessary. They may use intimidation and pressure you to make quick decisions so that you agree to their demands. 

 

*Criminals may try to convince you that work is urgently required and the price they are charging is fair. They will put pressure on you to have the work done immediately and may ask for payment upfront. Often the work is not completed, or if it is, the work is to a poor standard. You may also be overcharged for any work done. 

 

They can use deception to convince you by:

 

*Claiming they were working on a neighbours' address and noticed you need work completing and they have left over materials.

 

*Inspecting areas you can't access, for example the loft or roof and show you photos or videos claiming they are evidence that you need the urgent repairs. Beware of these tactics as these images may not even be your property. 

 

*Throwing water down when you are not looking to indicate you have ‘damp’.

 

*They may be insistent you pay in cash immediately or put down a deposit, even offering to take you to the bank to get the money. if you do this, they may continue to find reasons for you to pay more money.

 

*Some callers will be legitimate. Gas, electricity and water companies may visit to read your meters. Charities may visit to read your meters. Charities may visit to ask for donations and council officials may contact you regarding  local issues. Always ask for identification and tell them to wait outside whilst you check this by calling the company or speaking to a relative or friend. If you are calling the company, don't use the phone number on the person's ID card.

 

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF

 

*Always check their identity. If you are not happy about a person's identity, do not let them into your house under any circumstances. 

 

*Never leave your front door open/ unlocked and unattended, so a second individual can't enter without your knowledge.

 

*Take time to consider your options and research costs from other providers. If in doubt contact your local trading standards. 

 

*If you feel pressured by any cold caller, have the confidence to be firm and say no. 

 

*Legitimate builders do not call door to door. 

 

*Call the citizens advice consumer helpline following a doorstop caller on T 03454 04 05 06 or call and report this on 101 or online on the met police website below;

Drugs Warrants and Anti Social behaviour Disruption Sidcup - MetEngage Longlands, St Marys, Sidcup, Blackfen, Blendon & Penhill, Welling

On Friday 27 February, following a prolonged investigation and close partnership work with Bexley Council and Housing officials, officers from Bexley Safer Neighbourhood Teams executed three drugs warrants in the Sidcup area. These warrants were carried out in direct response to ongoing community concerns about drug‑related anti‑social behaviour.

Drugs were recovered from each of the addresses targeted.

Using the evidence obtained during the enforcement activity—together with information provided by local residents and our partner agencies—officers attended Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 28 February, where they successfully secured a three‑month Closure Order for a flat that had been the source of persistent ASB for several months.

This outcome is an excellent result for the community and demonstrates what can be achieved when residents, partners, and police work together to tackle issues that impact safety and quality of life.

Catalytic Converter event and note of arrest

Sidcup/Longlands Ward

Good work by the police resulted in two people being arrested and their untaxed/uninsured car towed after they were caught trying to steel catalytic converters in Morrisons Car Park Sidcup in the early hours of Saturday morning.

St.Mary's & St James Ward

Your local police team along with their colleagues will be holding a catalytic converter marking event this Tuesday 18^th January 2022.

The event will take place from 11am at Sainsbury car park in Crayford.

If you have any of the models listed below registered between 2000-2016 then please pop down to Sainsbury, Crayford and officers can mark your catalytic converter as well as registering it for free.

If you have any other models and you’re unsure then please pop down and your police team will have a look for you. (see list below)
