I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.
Unfortunately we've had a further 2 burglaries this week.
KIMBERLEY
DRIVE, Thursday 12th March - A property was broken into after suspects
smashed the rear French glass doors. Once inside the property, an
untidy search was carried out and as a result, jewellery and cash was
stolen. The property was broken into between 1930-1950hrs on the 12th
March. Following further investigations/CCTV enquiries by the Sidcup
team, four suspects were seen running from the side of a property in
Pembury Crescent, whose garden is adjacent to the victims garden.
Suspects were seen running to a waiting vehicle, possibly a blue Golf at
19:54hrs.
The team will continue their investigations today in this area to establish further details of this blue vehicle.
LONGMEAD
DRIVE - Another property was also burgled in Longmead Drive however,
timeline is not clear. Victims have been away but the neighbour reported
their front door being unsecure on the 13th March. Police arrived on
scene and it became apparent that the property had been burgled with
items strewn across the floor. Unclear what has been taken but again,
your Sidcup police team will be making further enquiries in the next two
days to see if this is possibly linked to Kimberley Drive.
For
those who reside in Kimberley Drive, Pembury Crescent, Longmead Drive,
can I ask you check your cctv cameras for Thursday12th March, between
1900-2000hrs. Essentially, we are looking for a blue vehicle, likely to
be a VW Golf. If you have captured anything then please let get in
touch with us.
While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you:
Double lock your door every time you leave the house
If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access.
Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows.
Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through.
If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house.
Make sure all valuables are out of sight.
Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps.
In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on.
Set your burglar alarm
Lock your shed or garage
Mark, register or record your valuables.
