Burglary & Theft of Vehicles in Cold Blow Crescent - appeal for information

One of our residents in Cold Blow Crescent, Bexley returned from their Christmas break and found their home had been broken into and two(2) vehicles were removed from the drive.

It is thought it happened on the night of the 28th December 2022 at approximately  7pm-7.30pm one vehicle was a Mercedes the other a Ford Focus.

Local police team officers canvassed nearby properties today (4th Jan 2023)  asking if anyone had seen anything or if they had CCTV footage which may have captured any movements on that date.

One way of perhaps preventing these sort of crimes is to tell your neighbours you are going away for Christmas and to ask them to put bins out and put them back after collection to also check your letterbox to see that no post is sticking out, which can be an indicator that residents are away.

A lamp on a timer can also give the impression someone is in, these sort of crimes are normally done by criminals who spot a property that might be empty they then check it out a couple of times over a couple of days before breaking in.

Please be aware and stay alert as it appears that burglaries have increased in Bexley since Christmas.

This is an appeal to residents to check your CCTV footage or If you think you may have seen or heard anything suspicious, or have any information related to this incident then please contact the local Safer Neighbourhood team for St Mary's & St James Ward on 101, or 020 8721 2816, or via email at stmarys.stjames.snt@met.police.uk alternatively you can call them above or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111 or contact Bexley Neighbourhood Watch.
